What Role Does Denying, Minimizing And Blaming Play in Abuse?

This can be anything that makes a woman believe she is responsible for the violence perpetrated against her. For example: when an abuser denies the abuse or makes it seem as if it was not as serious as the victim says, saying that she is responsible for or deserves the abuse, when the abuser does not take responsibility for his actions.
