Intimidation & Threats
What Function Does Intimidation And Threats Play in Abuse?
This can be any word, gesture or action that makes a woman fearful for her safety, emotionally and physically. For example: an outright threat to hurt her, throwing objects or destroying her property, punching walls, threatening to commit suicide, using their voice to scare her, threatening to hurt something or someone she cares about, showing weapons. When property is damaged or a weapon is shown, there is an implication that this time it’s property, this time he’s just showing the weapon, next time it will be you that gets hurt instead of the property, next time he’ll use the weapon.
