Using Children

How Does an Abuser Use Children?

This happens any time a child is used as a means to have power and control in a relationship. For example: threatening to take away the children if the woman leaves the relationship, hurting or threatening to hurt the children, using children as a way to create dependency, undermining parenting decisions, telling or threatening to tell the children negative things about their mother, using the children after the woman has left the relationship to "spy" on mom, not paying child support.
